After paint, door adjustment and interior I’m ready to put the ID tag back on. I have the “original type” rivets but have no idea how to seat them properly and instructions were not included. Any help/advice/instructions will be greatly appreciated.

Those rivets have a convex bottom shape, and you insert them and use a punch to pop that convex bottom down, which expands the sides and holds the rivet in place. Really pretty simple. They don't have a ton of holding power, but are adequate for things like dataplates.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.
