Hello everyone -

I took tons of pictures when I disassembled my bed frame but I missed one that I need now. (Figures!)

I was curious if anyone can tell me if the two pieces that stick off of the inside of the rear cross sill actually insert into and bolt on to the insides of the frame rails?

The pictures I do have make it look like the extensions protruding off of the inside of the sill are bolted to the side of the driver’s side frame rail.

Thanks for any information.

The rear cross sill actually sits on top of the frame, the bolts go through the wood and the sill peices to attach it to the frame. There should also be rubber pads (about 1/4" thick) that go under the sill and the other cross sills where they bolt to the frame.

Thanks Bill -

I should have been able to figure that one out. Sorry.

I am trying remove the trunions and use the hidden hinges that you weld on to the rear cross sill and the tailgate. I am assuming that since there are two holes in each of the frame rails(one directly above the other) the bolts you refer to are long enough to go thru the entire "C" shape of the frame, in addition to the wood thickness. Is this correct?

If I do remove the trunions, would you agree with my belief that these two bolts would be strong enough to support the weight of the sill and the tailgate (opening and closing) without tweaking the cross sill?

No pressure - just your opinion. Your advice is and always has been greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ross
