Hi folks, Mark here. Was planning on swappin in a 292 into my 47. Found out the hard way that's more of a project than anticipated. (Actually my buddy found out the hard way, he was doing it for me) Anyway, decided to make life easier on myself and put in a small block chevy. I say easier because I know it's been done a million times and I have one handy.

My question(s) starting out is can someone recommend a crossmember conversion to mount up a small block? Looks like there are several available. I'm also putting in a GM 5 speed. I'm sure I'll need something for that too. Any advice in this project would be appreciated.

Chassis Engineering has been bought by Heidt's and I don't know if much has changed but for regular work (not monster fire breathers) I used to use the CE kits a lot because they were of good quality and often had a choice of bolt in or weld in options. Most all others are weld in.

What GM 5 speed are you planning on using?

Ed, good question. I won't have in my hands for another couple weeks. I'm anticipating problems though. Like the location of the internal shifter coming through the floor of the truck, and adapting a hydraulic master cylinder for the clutch. (although I think I may have that figured out)
