New to me, 72 K10 w/org 350 with about 140k miles on it. Runs ok but a bit ratty. New plugs, wires, cap (has later HEI distributor). Suspect Qjet carb needs help but if functioning for now.
It appears to have a replacement radiator in it which leads me to believe there may have been some overheating conditions in its past.
Ran compression test on it & all cyls good at 90# except cyls 2 & 4 test to 20#.
Checked rear differential yesterday and found it about 2 qts low!--suspect the PO did little or no maintenance!
Been along time since I played around with older engines and do consider myself a novice when it comes to diagnosis of engine problems.
I suspect possibly a head gasket problem between the two side by side cyls.
Any help, thoughts or ideas reference this problem would be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance for your help!

The next test should he a cylinder leakdown check. Pull all the spark plugs, get each cylinder in the firing order at top dead center with both valves closed, and put air pressure into the cylinder through the spark plug holes. Listen for leakage at the carburetor, tailpipe, and adjacent cylinders to find out where the pressure is going. Lock the crankshaft with vise grips clamped onto the flywheel to keep the air pressure from spinning the engine in case you miss TDC by a little.

Delky,
An off topic question for you. We have THREE 1970 Blazers right now--two for rebuilds and one for parts. Two of them have the topper and the fiberglass is in sorry shape. Do you know of anyone that works with these units? Price is not a show stopper. Thanks; Evan

Evan, if there's a good boat shop in your area, they're more likely to have skillful fiberglass techs than most body shops do. One repair technique we used to use on fiberglass boats to repair damaged gel coat was to mix up enough to recoat a thin spot and stretch heavy-duty Saran Wrap like a restaurant might use over the repair while it was curing to smooth it out. Then feather-edge sand the repair to blend it into the rest of the surface, prime, and paint.

I've been using that test for over 50 years- - - -it makes for a very quick diagnosis with little if any teardown. Have fun!
