Can someone help me identify the body tag? Long wheel base with flat bed; maybe 12-15ft long. I think it is a 1.5ton and a 6000 series? That's what I'd like to know exactly.

2 other questions:
Where do I get new brake pads? The front measure 15x2".

On the exhaust manifold, what is the purpose of the internal flap and where do I purchase that spring (if actually need)? There is a counter weight on the radiator side of the exhaust manifold and the spring goes on the cab side of the exhaust manifold.

Thanks!

Do you need brake shoes(drum brakes) or brake pads(disc brakes)? Most auto parts should be able to order new lined shoes, if that is what you need, on an exchange basis. Best to verify if it is really a 6000? Series or whatever before searching for parts.

The 'heat flap' is designed for warming up and keeping carb. ice from forming, if you get a service manual for eBay or such, it should show pictures.

Thanks for the reply Ed. I'm looking to replace my brake shoes. Apologies for the misuse of words above.

Can you post a photo of your Vehicle Serial Number plate?

Approximately what do you think is the year of your truck?

Based on the serial number it's a 1952.

9VW B 1453

9 = Norwood Plant
VW = 1952 6400 Series (161" wheel base, 2-ton)
1453 = unit number starting with 1001 (so you have the 453rd VW built in Norwood).

Thank you Mike! Big help.
I had thought it was a '53. No solid reason other than that's what our neighbor told Dad when we traded some round bails of hay roughly two decades ago.
