Well, the Homecomings over and it is time to start planning the Reunion.
Sounds like Ron will be attending, Vicki and I also have it on the calendar.

Things we need to start thinking about.
T-shirt design and colors, they will have pockets again this year.
Door prizes for the attendees.
I'll have the Stovebolt awning and please bring lawn chairs.
We'll also need flyers made up, describing what we do.

I know this is real early and don't expect much respounce.
Just start thinking about it and we'll move forward.

Don,
As one of the locals, I'm available for those "hard to deal with long distance" issues. Just let me know.

Thanks Chuck.
I like to start planning early and get folks thinking about it.
We'll be looking for a different Hotel to stay at this year and will be checking into that.
The show schedule will also determine our schedule and all input is more than welcome.

It has always been the weekend after our labor day which is the first Monday in September.
Looks like they have the park reserved for September 7th, 8th and 9th.

There is not much other info out yet though.

Now that I think I have the problem with the truck sorted out I am planning to attend. Or the car will have to do.

Hi guys, this is Mike Wahl's wife Pat from Norwalk. So, do you have the shirt design and color picked out yet? I am just doing after action reports for the Soap Box Derby here in town and gearing up for the next two car shows we go to and the big July 4th celebration here in town. Thought I would bug you guys so I don't have to wait until August to get shirts and wonder if they will be done in time! Have you checked anywhere for a host hotel?

Pat
Great to hear from you!
You and Mike are key players in keeping the Reunion alive and well !!
Guess I need to stay at the computer and start the coordination this week.
No hotel lined up yet, but Vicki has suggested the Motel 8 where you guys have stayed the past few years.
Really close and we can sit in the park until the skeeter's run us out.

Vicki's birthday is tomorrow and she is at the Lake of the Ozarks with our Shepard and I will be headed there tomorrow.

This is what I have been doing today.

Did you see this article about Mongo?

But it IS time to start planning for the Reunion.
Darn John, I'm ready for him to take the duty back.

Thanks for the help you and Mike put in at this epic event!!
Like I said, you both are key players and Martin may be drafted into it also.

OK Martin
We need to start some threads to get the ball rolling.
T-shirts, door prizes and lodging, to name a few.
The Stovebolt group had about 16 trucks on display last year and the actual show had over two hundred.

T-shirt design and colors need to be decided soon, along with orders.
If Tim and Karen make it in this year, he will be our MC for the meeting. (I can actually speak pretty good Australian now)
Lodging is a question as we had some issues last year at Econo Lodge.
Think about door prizes, I have the small stuff left over from last year, so we need to have some in the 10 buck range that pertain to trucks.
And things for the females, that may not wrench much.

These are just some quick thoughts right now.

I am curious about the overall size of the show since it is a very long drive.

Thanks

As Don said, roughly 200. Not a huge show but not your run of the mill smalltown show either. secret

Oldbolter,
Last time I was there, two years ago, there were about 250 trucks. In contrast to the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) national shows, which has mostly over the road diesel trucks, this show has many pickups and panels. When I took my '50 Chevy COE it was equal to the largest truck there. In addition to the friendly Stovebolt folks, you meet many local and regional people who are also extremely friendly.

On of the unique things I saw at that show was a young guy (?35 years old) who collects Chevy survivor trucks from the 80s. Now that is not my area of interest but his hobby was hunting down low mileage trucks from that era, not an easy task since he is from the area with lots of humidity and some salt in the winter. He had 5 pristine trucks, ranging in original mileage from 2200 to 30K. He does no restoration (he doesn't have to) and only does detailing. What was interesting was he got more attention from folks looking at original panel fitment, decal placement, orange peel of the paint, misaligned stencil painting of tailgate, etc, than all those modified, chromed and stoked trucks with stunning paint jobs of similar vintage. His joy was in the hunt for these rare vehicles in original (I really mean original) factory condition and I really appreciated seeing his trucks and talking to him. I have no idea if he was there last year or whether he will be there again.

I highly recommend this show,
Kent

For whatever reason I felt last years show was down quite a few over the year before. No clue why. Maybe Mongo will chime in with the official count. eeeek

I know the Stovebolt numbers were down some.
As for the show, I did not get a chance to do a Walk-A-Bout.
Hope you and your wife will be there again this year!

Yes, you will be a bigger player this year.

Thanks Mike, good to hear from you!
You and Pat are key players in the event,
The show schedule looks to be the same as last year with not much going on Friday night.
Vicki and I will be in the area Friday afternoon and set up HQ that evening.
Hotel is yet to be determined.
Anyway you can do your brake line demo? That is always a big hit.
