Finished my turn signal install. For any guys with total stock 6 volt system using all LED lamps.

1) Used an aftermarket 7 wire unit.
2) Removed the STOP/ BRAKE wire and ran 2 new wires, left and right to each bulb.
3) Connected the STOP/BRAKE wire that used to run to the brake lights to the red wire on the signal switch.
4) Left the wire from the fuse box STOP connected to the stop/ brake switch.
5) Converted the PARKING front lights into duel 1157 lamps.
6) Ran two new wires left and right from the front lamps to the signal switch.
7) Found a 6 volt LED flasher on eBay. Made those connections.
8) Connected the RED fused power wire to the flasher then to an always hot screw on the lights switch. (This may be wrong)
9) Mounted the signal switch to the column with a brass band I made up. (The band clamp looked so cheesy)
10) Left the PARK lights connected as they were (stock). THIS DIDNT WORK. Had to disconnect both parking lights to get front lamps to flash one at a time when the signal was used. Disconnecting from fuse box wasn’t enough. Had to separate them.

So I have left and right signals and hazards anytime all LED 6 volt. Just have to figure out how to make the parking lights work with this system.

Anyone have any advice???

Thanks Don

Parking lamps are a seperate circuit,

Just keep them wired as original

They have nothing to do with your 7 wire switch or signals

That’s what I thought. And I did leave them in their stock setup. Might have something to do with taking power from the lights switch for the signal switch. Thought I had the front lights crossed. Switched one side. Same problem.

Pull the light switch to the park position and meter the terminal

if the tails work properly then its not the power to the switch

I went to the junkyard and bought an apache turn signal switch and steering wheel because I didn't like the clamp on switch. It slides right on the column. They charged me $20 for the wheel and switch. You need the wheel to mate up to the signal switch "cone"? I bought a new electrical switch for $30 for it. The 57? steering wheel is dished so I had to have the column and shaft shortened 4". The local welding shop did it for me for $20. I restored the wheel for another $20 or so. I just can't live with the golf cart type switch. I left original down the road a long time ago.

Okay. Removed the original parking lights wiring and retired the parking lights. STILL had a double flash.

On a guess. I installed an LED lamp from a different manufacturer both are 1157. NO double flash. Everything works fine. I guess all lamps are not made the same.

Well now my truck is almost half way through a total rewire.😁

God love you man but there’s no way I’m going through that much trouble on my signals. But maybe. Down the road.

Do you have any pictures.

Now I’ve ordered original looking wire and will rewire half the truck next week.

Anyone know where I can find original side ways terminal connectors that go in the fuse box?

Thx Don
