Greeting,
First post here on the forum so lets hope I dont screw it up.

Need to know best type/brand of paint to use on grill and hub covers on my 66 Checy Step Side. I want to paint them white. I stripped them down to bare metal & primered them already.

Same question on the wheels. They are the OEM steel wheels and I want to paint them black.

Many thanks!

On My grill I used Rustolium Rusty Metal primer 2 coats almost wet on wet. Then 2 coats of rustolium High performance enamel 2 coats But i will sand and then 2 mor coats, Now i know its a Rattle can,But the stuff is tough, I used black as well but it does have a slight sheen, there is not much true flat paint out there anymore. i am going to do My bumper the same and My wheels, As for your hub caps You said you stripped them down to Bare metal, They (Rustolium) has a Rattle can for Bare metal...I just do not remember the name,Be carefull when you re-coat..It says re- coat within an Hour..or you have to wait 48 Hours between..Or it will lift on you. I am sure there will be others giving you more ideas, and they will all be good. M/G

If you want the original colors, paint stores can mix it in acrylic enamel. The white is called ivory and the code is 8290. I used "wet look" hardener and it's very glossy. If you want flat, you can get flat clear coat to eliminate the gloss. I got all mine at O'Reilly's.

I should have read your post better JT. You didnt say what you used for a primer . Just when you make your decision on your top coat make sure it is compatable with you primer..I guess I am paranoid about primers and finish coats..Had a Bad lifting experiance once..With Laquars..
