I have a 350 in my 66 step side. I put the gas tank in the back an eliminated it from the cab. Now when I park it at night the gas runs back to the tank and it takes a long time cracking the starter before the gas gets to the carb. Also on hot days it vapor locks, not bad we can keep going by pumping the gas petal.

Thanks for the help

The needle valve should keep gas in carb bowl for days. You have a bad needle valve, bad fuel pump check valve leaking or "boil out". Maybe a spacer is needed. Maybe a filter leak. Any leak can cause trouble. The bowl is supposed to have enough fuel to fire, the pump is supposed to have some residual pressure/vacuum/fuel to prime fast. It's possible with the relocation that you will need an electric fuel pump. What's the reason for tank relocation?

Also: Make sure your new gas cap AND/OR your new tank are VENTED.

Fuel lines/hoses/filters AWAY from exhaust and motor.

Thanks bartamos that makes sense gas not staying in the carb . The needle valve. The tank is vented and away from the exhaust and fuel lines I rapt with that tape that keeps them from getting hot all the way up to the carb. It still vapor locks.
