Any help is appreciated.

The rims were black, with either white or beltline matching pinstripes. There were either two or three pinstripes on the rims with the hubcaps being grey with red lettering. | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 | A quick update. I have a standard cab so I did not look into deluxe colors. The few examples I have personnaly seen were black and had two white pinstripes | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | 1950 Chevrolet 3100? Here is a page from the Restoration Package - 1950 Chevrolet Specifications. (thank you, again, Kieth Hardy) 3 stripes on 3100 16" rims 2 stripes on 3600-3900 17" rims Other years might be different (1954 is different). Jimmie D - were you referring to 1952 or 1950? Were hubcaps chrome in 1950 and painted in 1952/53? Does anyone have have documentation that body-colored wheels were available on 3100s prior to 1954? | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 428 | Hi Tim, yes I was referring to the 52 I am restoring. The war years from what I have read are considered 51 52 53. The US joined in the fight on June 23 1950 and the war ended on July 27 1953. One of the metals in short supply during the Korean War was chrome. That is the reason much of the bright work from previous years went to stainless or was painted during those years. The hubcaps were painted grey and the lettering was red. I am sorry I can't help you out on body colored rims prior to 1954. My memory isn't real clear as to the end of the war as I was just 8 months old at the time LOL. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Jimmie D,
Thanks for the clarification. I think that Eric was asking about 1950.
I think that the use of brightwork ended at the end of the 1951 model year, because of the Korean conflict. The hub caps, bumpers, grille, radio speaker horizontal trim, glovebox door, etc, were painted in 52/53.
The nickel and copper (and zinc) were probably needed more than the chromium.
I was four in 1954 but I cannot remember anything about the Korean conflict.
