I want to mount the oil filter adapter below the 12V alternator by fabricating a steel plate and welding it to the alternator bracket. Has anyone done this? seen this? and have the dimensions for the steel that I will weld on to the bottom edge of the bracket?

I don't know anything about the GMC engine oil systems, and I know enough about the Chevrolet oiling systems to be dangerous. I would be concerned about robbing too much oil from the crank shaft and cam bearings to supply the full flow oil filter.

It's like turning a garden hose on a roof and saying less comes out of the hose if there are gutters. We won't let one of our engines go out the door without a full flow filter and a pcv valve. Oil will still be clear at 3000 miles rather than black at 1000. Those were the steps I took - found in the link. My next step is locating the spin on oil filter adapter. Was wondering if someone located the filter below the alternator bracket, by welding a piece of steel to that bracket.
