The old exhaust manifold was in very bad shape so I decided to work on it. My plan was to replace all the studs as most of them were in very bad shape. I also wanted to try and free up the heat riser and get it working. Pulled out the torch and started heating up around the studs. Worked like a champ until I got to one of the studs that go through the intake and hold the two together. It was rusted down to just about nothing where they mated together. Needless to say that one snapped off. I did my best to drill it out, heat it up, and use a extractor to remove it but nothing I did would budge the bolt. Finally I decided that enough time was spent on it and it was time to shop for a new manifold. I could only find new manifolds from suppliers that fit the 216, but from what I read it was the same manifold. The only problem was that it cost about $225 and I wasn't quite ready to let go with that much right now. Off to craigslist I go. I did a quick search and found one locally that was still attached to the intake for $50. Messaged the seller and meet up with him to pick it up. Arrived at the pickup point, got out to give a quick hand shake, and looked in the back of his truck to look at the manifold. It wasn't there. He then stated that it was inside his truck. He opened the door to show me and I could not believe what I seen. The manifold was so clean he had it sitting on his seat and it looked brand new! Even the heat riser is complete and working. Things do seem to work out. Pic of manifold

If you do not need the "heat stove" on the left of the exhaust manifold, take it off and keep it for someone who has an automatic choke carburetor that uses a pipe to that heat stove. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,611 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,611 | Good story.
