Can anyone tell me approximately what year valve cover I have by the "Chevrolet" name and breather location?

Engine is a '53 full press 235
Head is a '59

But I guess the valve cover could be just about anything (with 4 screws)
I'm trying to order a new breather, but online shows '46-'57

Thanks, Jim

I believe that is a one year only '59.

Correct cap for draft tube ventilation system: Jim Carter ME738..........58/59 seems to be years that the cap was in the middle. Other years on the end. Aftermarket: on the end. 1954 an earlier valve cover had breather slots and non vent cap. 55-62 vent cap, no slots.....then the PCV (some info per J.C, although his blog says PVC)

1958-1962 according to this article on Jim Carter's website.

Interesting explanation that the cap was moved to the middle starting in 1958 because of hood clearance issues with cars.

My 58 Delray coupe with a 235 3 speed setup had a center oil fill cap and an offset air cleaner, both of which just barely cleared the hood. The pickups had considerably more room above the valve cover and the carb.

Making one cover was cost saving. You are correct. You could put a blower on a 59 and close the hood.
