I am thinking of upgrading my 59 to a v8.I would like to use the stock front motor mounts but the newer motors do not seem to be drilled for them. Does anyone know when they stopped drilling the holes or has anyone taped a new motor for the mounts. I am leaning towards a gm crate motor as a junk yard motor will probably need a rebuild. Any guidance is appreciated.

I'm sure someone knows the cut off date, but the older than 1990 motors I believe it was have the front lower motor mount holes. I am kind of looking around to replace my 283 and have been looking at older 350s and anything else.

Seems like someone, perhaps on U-tube, showed using the steel mount as a template to locate, drill and tap correct holes in a modern block. I think the example I saw was for 348/409, which would be same exercise.

GM crate engines that cover the range from 69-85 are drilled & tapped for the front mounts. I have installed several of them in TF trucks with the stock mounts. The original engine in my 88 truck and the factory replacement engine were not drilled and tapped for the front mounts and did not have provisions for a engine driven fuel pump.
