Was invited to dinner at some friends Monday eve. Stopped at the local Staters for some desert (pecan pie), and as I parked the TF, a beautiful ,'57 Belair 2 door post pulled in and parked next to me. A young man hopped out and began to check out my '55 He introduced himself and then told me he always wanted a red '55 pickup like mine, but ended up with the '57 car he has now. Now let me say, this '57 was as original as can be. Bronze and cream twotone with white walls and a windshield visor. Just gorgeous, Something I would have given my right nad for when I was in High School! 283, two barrel with three on the tree. I'm babbeling about his '57 and he can't keep his eyes off my '55. Then two of the cart boys wander over to check out the old cars and soon there's a crowd..... I'\m late for dinner and can't hardly get away from the car show that is happening in the parking lot..... So I break away and do my shopping and when I come out the crowd is still there! A group is waiting to see the Pontiac engine in my truck and I have to pop the hood and show them. Robert, the owner of the '57, Looks in and spots the Chevelle bucket seats, and I tell him that I am thinking of getting a bench seat to replace them so I can take both my granddaughters for ice cream when I visit them. He says that he has a seat out of a '57 Cameo that he will sell. We have a local gathering of classics at the Sunnymead Burger in Moreno Valley the second Sat of the month so I tell him I will see him there. I am 30 mins late for dinner, but it was worth it!
