I have a 1957 chevy 3600. The paint code on the tag says 769. Could you tell me what color the truck was originally?
I can't find this code anywhere on the net for a 1957.
Thanks,

I researched several books I have and I did find a reference to the number 769 for a '57, but it was listed as a job number and not a paint code. If you can find a color chart for '57, you will be able to get the paint code from it. According to one of my books, there were 7 2-tone color combinations and 14 single colors available for trucks in '57. This isn't much help, but good luck in your search. Some one on this site probably has a paint chart for '57. Rick

The tag in the drivers door says paint code 769.
The truck has been repainted Red. I was wondering if this is the original color for the truck. Thanks,
