can anyone help/explain my 37 3/4 ton cast numbers. rear diff. : 377707 , trans. : c84 , eng. : 838101 also eng. serial number is : Ti03i7ib . thankyou in advance for any and all help.

838101 - 1937 216 block casting code
Ti03i7ib - T103171B 1937 Engine Serial Number (can you post a photo?)
C84 could be a transmission date casting code: March 8th 1944?

no photo at this time , overcast raining . but the eng. serial number Ti03i7ib all i's are capital letters sorry about that,laptop wont let me did not want them mistaken for the #1. sorry for any confusion

Chevrolet didn't want any confusion either, so the capital "eye" was used for the number "1"...

Engine serial number T103171B breakdown...

T = 1-1/2 ton truck
103171 = unit number starting at #1
B = have no idea why the "B" is there, Chevrolet didn't use a sufix on engine serial numbers in 1937. Is the B the same font, size and in line like it came from the factory or is it different like it was added?

wow i/1 i learned something thank you. first thought b was a 6 , would that make more sense? will definitely take pictures.

If it's a "6" than you have the 1,031,716th engine in 1937. They went to 1,187,821 that year.

All engine were built in Flint until 1938 when the Tonawanda plant went into production.
