I got a used chrome grill off of ebay last year and am finally getting around to putting it on. It seems to be slightly off center and one side sticks out about a 1/2 inch farther than the other, The doors almost fit square in the openings , but not quite and barn door gaps are impossible to line up like I like them. Am I expecting too much to expect better alignment? i would not say used up , but used.
these ol truckes, burbs and panels were hand made compared to modern vehicles. I have 4 passenger side doors for my panel and not one "fits" the same as the other. and my barn doors, same thing, but i am getting closer with a tweak here and there. good luck

seemed as though uniform fits were not priority..
I took lots of time in getting the "gaps" uniform. On the right door, for example, the rear
door edge was almost over-lapping the cab..the door
opening measured correctly...So to obtain a proper fit, the door edge was reduced considerably with a
grinder, then with a 2 solid copper bars sandwiched
the door edge, then mig welded a bead on the door
