It looks like the 56 and earlier clutch forks are different from the 57 and later. early being bent and later being straight . I am using a later bell housing and have a straight fork with it,. The plan is to change the motor and transmission as a unit so hopefully is a quick and simple swap from the 283 and 3 speed to a 350 and T5. So the question is will the straight fork work with the 56 linkage , or do I need to have a bent fork like what is in it now. Is a 56 3100

Use the bent fork, it matches the other parts of the clutch linkage. Also, it is the same through 59.

Thank You, The hope is to have everything all bolted together so when pull one out can just drop the other one in as a unit and most of the wrench turning is done outside the truck. Engine, clutch and Transmission all bolted together outside.
