Hey guys,I wanted to know if any of you have used any of the quart or gallon primers sold at your local auto store. I'm not going for show quality, rather affordability. Thanks!

they'll be as good as the brand - most local parts stores sell the same paints as local body shop suppliers ... around here most of the parts stores are body shop suppliers ... you want to get a primer that's compatible with the top coat you plan to use

Thanks Red, but I dont't know what top coat I will be using yet. I'm just now starting to sandblast it, and I'm told I have to prime it the same day.

You are smart by asking here, I did and don't regret it. There are a bunch of guys here that "been there, done that." My question to you is...are you going to use 1K or 2K paint?

beltfed, not sure what paint I'm gonna use yet. Can you tell me whats the difference in 1k and 2k ? Also, can you tell me which primer I should use if I go with a 1k or a 2k ? Thanks!

Basically, the 1k paints/primers dry by evaporation of some solvent, the 2k has 2 parts mixed together which "dry" by chemically reacting & getting solid. The 2k is much tougher. Brian
