I've noticed in different articles , pictures showing different front crossmembers on 3100 ad chevys. The one that holds the radiator

I just finished a 1946 chevy pickup street rod
now on a 1950 chevy 3100

also a GMC 220 with duals

What article (s)?
What year 3100?

The Master parts catalog shows the the same frame front cross member for 47-54 (55st).

Do you mean the front crossmember for the GMC compared to the one for the Chevy? The two are different because the engines are different.

The one on my frame is probably 10 inches wide in the middle I've seen pictures of them maybe 5 inches wide in the middle.

A labelled photo of Chevrolet A-D vs GMC ND frame front cross member is attached below (illustration compliments of Rob English).

Note: GMC 228/248/270/302 blocks/engines are longer than Chevrolet 216/235/261 blocks/engine (GMCers say this produces long-block-envy by Chevrolet stove-bolters).

thanks for the help . A picture that I saw was where they narrowed the crossmember by removing the motor mount. thanks again
