So I'm trying to figure out how to do throttle linkage, I've seen where some people made custom pivots and stuff, and one place said to position everything at full throttle, then cut and weld the horizontal rod to length, can someone tell me what to do? Engine is a 59 soposedly.

I have a 1962 engine in an 1951 truck. Similar issues....:235 where a 216 once sat.

The previous owner’s solution was hacking up the rod between the pedal and the pivot. Works, but definitely not an “elegant” solution. Can take a pic if you want. Looks like they cut and re-welded that rod.

Yeah if you could take a picture that'd be great.

Could I heat the rod and bend it maybe?

Looks to me like mine was both cut and re-bent but I don’t have any original setup to compare to. I can grab a picture this evening. I suspect you will have to get creative.

You may also have an issue with the rod from the pivot to the carb. While changing manifolds I learned that some 235s had a lower-profile intake.

If this was easy, everyone would have an old truck. smile

Ok that's fine I guess this will be interesting

The rod from pivot to carb is still on it and I'm using manifold and carb that came with the engine so I'm ok there

And boy ain't that the truth.. but it's fun

I did not want to cut my accelerator rod, as there is no reproduction... I was able to bend mine into sort of an S shape near the pivot to take up the extra length. My pedal is still a bit more upright than I would like but it works.
