The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop 46' Cab on 50' Frame?

I have a 50' 3600 frame, that I thought one day, would see a good cab,(original cab was about non-existent) well...., I wound up finding a pretty straight 51' 3100, and with minimal work, drive often. This has left me with a 3600 frame, painted, with an entire new braking system, ready for a cab. My question is, I have a 46' cab, about rust free, and in the process of re-finishing. How much trouble would it be to put the 46' cab, on the 50' frame? I would like to keep the 50' trans., and bell housing, obviously this would not line up with the 46' cab pedals, and I believe the steering shaft will need to be modified. I am not above a little welding, and fabrication, but wondered if it would be worth the effort? Thanks in Advance!

Check your cab mounting also I think pre 49 was a three mount arrangment. In 49 they changed to a four corner mount config.

I don't know for sure but I'd be willing to bet that a '46 cab is much narrower. Check the width where the cab stradles the frame.
