| | | | Joined: Oct 2017 Posts: 42 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2017 Posts: 42 | As the wiring project is snailing slowly along I thought it was time to start removing old bits from the truck for cleanup & testing. I have a new 12v light switch but will need to use the old knob and fixings. I couldn't see any way to get it out. I expected some sort of hex nut or maybe some fittings for GM Special Tool #007 but saw nothing that looked promising. How can I get it out without wrecking anything?
The ignition switch was also being mysterious. How does it come out?
I checked the Chevy shop manual but it did not cover anything as basic as this. I can guess that trained mechanics already knew such elementary info . . .

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | shop manual section 12 page 36/37 .... there's a button on top the light sw that when depressed allows the knob w/ shaft to pull out, then there's a bezel-keeper nut that holds the sw in .... ignition sw also has a bezel nut that usually takes some struggle to get loose if you don't have the correct tool .... the light sw doesn't care if you use 6 or 12V

What holds the cigar lighter in? I have a USB adapter that uses the cigar lighter for power if I can get it wired up correctly.
