55 manual says 17qt. I would use that capacity. 2 gallons of antifreeze is 8 qts, which is what you want for a 50/50 mix in a 16qt system. Look on the back of the jug, and depending on how cold it gets in your area, that should be fine. You can also get an antifreeze tester to see where you are at currently.

Add a gallon of antifreeze, a gallon of distilled water, from then on, mix 50/50 in each jug and fill with that 'til full. Or if one is lazy, one can buy 50/50 premixed.

A 50/50 mix freezes at -37 degrees F. If it ever gets that cold in Tennessee, I'm moving to Taihiti! Rather than paying antifreeze prices for water, I buy the concentrated stuff and mix my own 50/50 coolant, using an empty 1 gallon container and pouring it half full, then topping both off with water. Be sure to drain the block as well as the radiator to get all the water out before refilling with the coolant mix.

Buying 50/50 antifreeze is like buying light beer. If I wanted light beer I would add water to my PBR!
