It's beautif wood, he did a great job of cutting out the notch for the metal strips. He cut the wood 6' insted of 8'. So wat do you do with a bunch of 6' oak boards? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Was that a mistake? Whose mistake? Who paid for the mistake?
Are there now mounting holes in the wood, or are they un-drilled planks? | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 208 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 208 | I printed off the diagram for a 1956 Chevy 3600 pickup bed. I don't know why he cut them to 6' instead of 8', but I paid for the mistake. I might make a table top out of it. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Bart, put and ad in the parts for sale....there may be someone close by to recoup the cost.....and maybe then guy will cut them right and give you a nice discount"? | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | Buy some stainless steel bed strips and make a table top which will be the dream of every single person who has ever visited this site from its inception! It needs to become your family's new dining room table! No exception. I would cut the grooves in the boards deeper so that the bed strips are level with the wood to prevent a beer from being spilled as it is slid across the table. Then I would cover the whole table top with clear resin which is designed for covering table tops, to make it completely smooth. If the wife resists, threaten her with a replacement, or sell it for big bucks online if she has other redeeming qualities. You have just unwittingly hit the jackpot. I cannot wait for the pictures of the completed masterpiece. If you do not do this, you will be dead to me. A table top is just that good of an idea which you have come up with. Carl

Hey Bart, you wanna race?

I wish we could use it for something. Wife; It is beautiful wood. It would make a nice dresser or something. Me; Or a table top. You know, our table is looking old and beat up. (That was Sunday.) Today: Me; I could try to find some old folding table and replace the table top with that wood. Wife; Well if you are going to replace the table in the kitchen, why not use those legs and replace the kitchen table top. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | Act fast to avoid fickleness creep.
