bolters, 1959 1/2 ton pickup, when purchased bumper installed with no splash guard (was in bed) found a 59 clip in rough shape but used hood and grill (splash guard installed). Trying to remount front bumper and cannot seem to get things lined up with splash guard installed, bumper back off and flipped brackets, try again...not even close. Pulled splash guard and try without, will line up only if the small contoured profile of the bumper is facing up, most of the pic I see have the larger conture up to accommodate the splash guard I'm guessing. When I flip it I can line it up, even the side supports...any ideas gentlemen as I would like to have the splash guard there to tidy up the look of it. From what I gather in the assembly manual, I'm upside down (an honest description of my state of mind right now) Any insite would be helpful

1. May not be a 59 clip 2. Don't know what "won't line up means". Very vague. 3. The way it reads is you bought a truck with the splash guard in the bed. Don't know if this truck had a hood and grille or not. You bought a front clip (which can mean many things to many people) that included a hood and a grille. You used the hood and grille from the clip and installed the splash guard/valance that was in the bed and something does not line up but sometimes it does. 4. Since we can't see it or visualize it or know what is not lining up where, more detailed info would help. 5. Suggest you look at, and take many pictures of, a 59 front end. All angles and all views and then compare to see what is missing, bent, wrong part, flipped. Any previous owner could have used some part from something else and made it "work". 6. Wrong bumper brackets, rear brackets instead of front brackets. 7. Possibly 55-57 front parts are different in that area than 58-59. 8. You have double flipped parts and keep double flipping out of sync. 9. I will post pics of my 58 in a moment.
Ty...looks like your bumper end view is parallel to the ground with splash guard, mine looks the same only when I mount the splash guard it hits the mounting brackets...looks like you have some room between the back of the bumper and fender, mine is basically touching
If you didn’t do anything with/to the frame horns I don’t see why it won’t fit. If it won’t fit around the fenders that’s a different game.ðŸ›

Ty bartamos... The front clip I found (meaning both front fenders, hood, grill w/ splash guard installed) of these parts I only used the hood and grill. Fenders were used for patches on originals. By not lining up I meant the holes in the brackets won't align with the holes in the frame. Bought the original truck with all sheet metal intact, only the splash guard in bed. Bumper that was mounted on truck when bought was removed for bodywork, all brackets and supports original to truck. Am mounting the original bumper back to the truck with (with the splash guard attached to new grill support) . Both splash guard appear to be identical . I'll take your advise and continue to review pics,, maybe off and on a few more times
Justhorsenround, nope didn't mess with the frame rails...pretty sure the back of the bumper and fenders were very tight to begin with...will try more tomorrow ty
I am loading pics now, watch my previous post for 5 pics. I assume you mean the holes in the "bumper" brackets won't line up??????????? with holes in the frame. I thought you said it was all together ("bumper was mounted") and fitting fine except no splash guard? Please explain. I am trying to pay attention but you are very confusing. Be extra specific with each word.
well the thought that occurs is your "59" is actually on a 55-7 frame, which is about 3" shorter at the front -chalk mark is 57 length .... have you confirmed the vin by finding it on the driver side frame rail near the steering box? wouldn't be surprising if the PO built up a 59 on a better older frame

Flxible...txs will check that....when I bought the truck, the bed was not original...all the other sheet metal was the same color..rear bumper was off a mid 60s truck I believe, have not checked the frame #s...PO could have swapped out for all I know at this time...thanks for you insite
Flxable & Bartomas, have yet to find ID on frame, so I made frame extensions, flipped the bumper to match the pics you've sent, mounted the splash guard, marked and drilled the extensions, grade 8 bolted her and lined everything up accordingly with my good eye and shazam, looks like your trucks.. Those extension are bout 3" between sets of holes...txs for all the insite and pics, invaluable really gentlemen
Frame numbers will be stamped in right above the front axle on the driver's side and the letters/numbers are about 3/8" tall. The numbers are closer to the inside edge of the frame rail, they are not in the center. If the frame was primed and painted the numbers may not be visible.
Well, not to beat a dead horse but found the frame#...exactly as Flxable had suggested...1955 frame. The bumper is already installed, it's just nice to solve another small mystery, txs for all the advice from the stovebolt sages, my wife found a pic from when we first got Mazie and yep, front bumper installed upside down..lol
