I just had the windshield gasket replaced on a 53 AD, to correct a
big leak problem. Turns out the previous installer didn’t use
any sealer at all – oh well. The new gasket is a Steele,
as recommended several times in postings here. The only issue
now is that the gasket holes in the strip dividing the windshield don’t line up
well with the metal inside and chrome trim piece outside. I may
be unsuccessful in coaxing two of the holes in the rubber into the
right spot to get it all screwed together – if so, then what? I don’t
want to enlarge the rubber holes for fear of returning to the land-o-leaks.

Is there a recommended filler/caulk to make sure nothing leaks through
these holes? Even if I stretch things enough to assemble it all, the holes
may enlarge such that something is needed to seal things up.

Looking for somebody’s experience here. Thanks.

Pat
