Hi, Just starting a new project for me. Retired and needed something to do, so picked up a 1956 3100 short wheelbase pickup that needs a lot of work. Stripping the paint off almost looks like it had original paint color of Olive Drab, and that paint was tough as nails and even the paint remover had a hard time with that color. wondering if an old army truck at one time? Came with a 283 and an Oldsmobile tilt column and a lot of rust, Some patch panels had been done, but not done right and a lot of warped panels , doors being the worst

welcome to the garage, lots of help here for your project .... you may be seeing the old greenish primer, it is tough ... if it had been military, there would be a tag riveted inside the glovebox door .... a 56 would not have had a 283, if it's not a 265, it's a replacement engine

Welcome Charles, sounds like you'll be busy for a while. What are the mechanicals like? Don't let this truck get the better of you.

Charles, welcome to the Stovebolt. One things about these old trucks is that they are very interesting as you unfold its life story. Be sure to post questions in the most appropriate garage forum for the best help on the web. We are all here to help.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
