I've been sick for the last 3 weeks or I would not be asking. I'd get out and find out myself. 4 to 8 more weeks and I should be good to go. Just wanted to let ya'll know the reason for all the questions. Now, on my buddy's 74 C-50 dump truck. He told me that when he pushes the brake down at a low rpm it kills the engine, a 292 cid. He's presently bleeding the brakes now. I haven't seen the set up so I don't know what's going on. I told him I would quiz my friends on Stovebolt. If anyone knows it will be someone on here. The truck has a booster on it and I was wondering if it could be the hoses maybe dry rotted and not sealing good. Anyway, any thoughts on this? Thanks again to the best bunch of guys on the web. He is a really good guy and I am thankful for everyone helping me help him.

When you push the brake pedal it opens a valve allowing vacuum into the booster. If there is an internal leak the outside air will rush in leaning out the fuel mixture in the intake manifold and could cause the engine to stall. Thanks for the answer and the reminder. | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 206 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 206 | If I remember correctly they had a valve on top of the booster unit that does as Mike B suggested. it should have a 1" hose to a breather . They do go bad and do as you describe Picture | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 378 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 378 | Thanks again for replying to my post.
