I put a camaro t5 in my 59 recently. Had to change the clutch disc because of the spline count. The input shaft was the same length as the original trans so nothing was changed. The drive shaft got shortened 3 inches and the tail housing and top cover were changed to an s10. As for the spacer plate, If the trans you found has the chevy mount pattern you just bolt it directly to your bell housing. That trans may have the ford mount pattern.

Jimmy,
I can help you. I have a few web pages that will answer ALL of your questions.
I am a self proclaimed T5 enthusiast and have helped lots of folks get a T5 in their truck.

That 1983 Camaro T5 should have a Muncie bolt pattern and bolt right up to your bell.
Keep the clutch linkage you have.
If the T5 is from a V8 Camaro, it will have a 26 spline input shaft. So that means you'll need to find a 26 spline clutch disc. The best disc would be an 11" clutch disc if your bell, pressure plate and flywheel are compatible.
If the T5 is from a V6 Camaro, it will have a 14 spline input shaft. You will NOT need any adapter plate for the V8 or V6 Camaro T5.

If you swap to the S10 tail housing and want to keep the cable speedo connection, then you'll need to find a tail housing with a cable speedo connection from a 1988 or earlier S10/Sonoma/S15 T5 (pretty hard to find).
They do make converters that change a VSS signal to cable but I think they are not worth the money.

Your bell should have the 4 + 11/16" center index hole. If it has the larger size index hole, they make an adapter ring to downsize the hole to 4 + 11/16".

Take a look at some of my web pages. I'm here to help.

T5 INFO PAGE from my website.

I have a Camaro T5 in my 1965 C10. Here are the steps to the installation. T5 tranny installation.

Early S10 tail housings are getting a little hard to find.
I just had a later VSS housing converted to gear style by This guy.
It cost $250.00, but in some cases you have to do what you have to do.

Who woulda thought these little T5's would end up in such high demand?? Crazy.

I have seen guys install a rear crossmember for the T5, and others who do not...is there any consensus these days as to whether or not a rear crossmember is needed at the T5 rear mount?
