Due to problems with the supplier, the truck has set in my garage for the last month and a half. Here is the issue: when getting the truck ready for test drive, first the rubber hose feed from tank to fuel line started spraying...I figured old rubber rotted out, no big deal, and replaced. After truck started for 2 minutes, the other rubber feed hose from fuel lie to pump sprouted as well. Replaced that. Started truck, ran for 5 minutes, then fuel started pouring out of carburetor gasket to base, and then truck would not run. Is it a coincidence that all rubber parts failing at once? Gas was new gas, truck was garaged the last 2 months...it has set outside since 1987 with no problems like this ever...any ideas? After I rebuild the carb, are there any other fuel related rubber parts that I am forgetting?

"New gas"/ethanol was not in it long. Over the long haul it will eat non ethanol compatible rubber including carb internals. 3. Ethanol can not sit 2 months. It will absorb water. Cause big problems. Motor won't run. 4. Treat gas if there is a treatment. Some treatments will add to the problem. Be careful. Most people doubt that these additives really work. 5. The pouring out gas at carb base could be a different issue. Stuck float, bolts loose, worn shafts....or it could be ethanol deterioration like; accelerator pump skirt, needle valve rubber, gaskets, etc. 6. Change all fuel filters and be sure their filaments are E safe. 7. Empty all fuel from tank and start over. 8. Look up "phase separation". 9. Our older trucks are not set up for this stuff. Maybe a water separator could be used after fuel pump. Haven't studied that idea. They use them on boat motors. 10. The E fuel will release certain types of fuel tank build ups that were not released before. This will cause big time clogging until all is gone. 11. Bottom line, read the pump gas signs. Try not to use that E crap on older classic vehicles. 12. Thank goodness that no O rings were used on our older trucks. The fuel pump has a rubber diaphragm!!!

All have failed causing the engine to sputter and shut down. After I shut the engine down and wait for a few minutes it starts and runs fine until the next 25 or 30 minutes. All have been purchased from Napa. They just stand by the warranty and give me another pump.

Quality: meaning diaphragm material not Ethanol compatible or just weak or it tears. Not much else can go wrong. Valve or spring maybe. Doubt if there is a filter. Should be a fuel filter before pump anyway.

I have a new gas tank all new gas line rebuilt carburetor and supposedly new fuel pump. Also there is a fuel filter before the carburetor. I think the additives in the gasoline are causing the material inside to weaken. .
