On June 1st of 2016 Patricks ran my credit card to the tune of $699.00 without my permission for his 3:55 gears with the kit to over/haul everything at that end. As I was going to place the order in the near future I called Patrick and was assured the complete gears/set would be available very soon. Long story short it has been nearly nine months and no gears or kit. Have called Patricks several time and always given the same story "parts will ship within two weeks" Finally gave up and called for a refund three times over a 5 week period. They said refund would be issued the same day but never was. Today I called my credit card company to file a formal complaint. Visa said it would be taken care of. Never again will I order anything from patricks.
The explanation I have seen in other post is Patrick will start a list of people interested in a specific part. Once he has enough orders queued up to make placing the order cost effective he will place the order. If he has been building the list for 9 months and you place an order right now, he might be close to having enough on the list and you get your part right away. The biggest issue is he does not tell you that when you place your order. If it is something he typically stocks, he is very quick to ship it out. The particular part you reference use to be hard to find and Patrick was the only source. Now there are a lot of sources for these conversion kits.
Fine way to do business if you can get away with it. He currently is experiencing health issues but it doesn't explain why he's done this for many years. Guess it keeps the unsold inventory to a minimum.

It is too bad. I agree, not a good way to run a business. I have talked to him on the phone, nicest guy in the world. He could talk all day about old trucks. He is in his mid 70's and has been doing this for a long time.
He just seems to enjoy talking trucks. Spoke with him by phone a couple times a year ago inquiring about the Saginaw 4 speed kit w/torque tube output. He said none in stock but he'd put my name on the list for when they became available and he didn't ask for payment. Still haven't heard back, which is OK because I've since changed my mind about the trans swap.

I am in the same boat ordered the gear set bearing kit oakie bushing and career as my truck is a Canadian model. My order was in March of 2016. Keep getting promises .no such luck as to having any parts being shipped .any one from Arizona have any dealings with this place ,have not said anything in the hopes of getting the parts . I don't know if visa will help, out as I waited this long as I was given promises every month that I called.
Ordered my kit and gears 8/2015 and still waiting on the okie bearing. Says he has a vendor making them now. I highly recommend NOT using Patrick's to buy anything although the family is super nice.
What a shame a man works a lifetime building a great business & probably making a good living at the same time and then for some reason starts doing things that sends the business on a severe downhill slide. Agreed the Patrick family seems like a really nice family "What Happened" ??? June 1st 2016 Patrick ran my Visa Card without my authorization for 3:55 gear set with kit for $699. Have not received anything. Have called numerous times for a refund without any results. All ways told the same thing "Will Get A Check In The Mail Today" Never happened. ** Finally turned the hole mess over to Vise to see if funds can be recovered.
I can see the gear set taking some time. I ordered Fenton headers back in June 16. Same story as the gear set. I keep calling and the story is they should receive the shipment in a few days. They take the money as soon as you order. I contacted my visa card people last month and was told once it has been over 90 days you are out of luck. Said that if a company charges your card and you have not received your item and you are getting close to the 90 days. Call and they will take care of it. I'm way past 90 days and I'd bet Patrick knows that. They suggested I call the Arizona AG consumer fraud office. They are sending me the paper work. I'm guessing I will never see my money or the Fenton's from Patrick. That was my first order from Patrick. I'm lucky I did not place the rest of what I was wanting. So in a way they screwed them self. I'm only out a few hundred. Great folks to visit with on the phone but will lie like a dog and steal your $$. That's fraud.
kswillie ** Would you mind letting us all know the contact information for the Arizona AG consumer fraud office?? Even if I can not recover my $699 I would sure like to file a fraud case with the proper people. Your help greatly appreciated.

I had the same bad experience with Patrick's when I ordered their 3:55 rear end gears and overhaul kit. I ordered over the phone with M/C and knew I had up to 60 days to appeal the transaction since parts were never shipped . I gave it a little longer and after 3 months I called M/C and they still allowed me to get my money back and sent Patrick's a letter giving them up to 60 days to counter my appeal. They never responded so I was able to keep my money. That was my first and last time doing business with Patrick's.
Very sorry to hear about these issues with Patricks, for a few years ago, I ordered and took delivery of my 3:55 kit from them without a hitch. Still running great.

Update on my $699, In the last four or five weeks I have called Patricks numerous time hoping to get a positive answer in ref: to my $699 refund. Two weeks ago I spoke with Patricks wife and was told by her that she had mailed my refund the day before. I waited over a week to receive it but it never showed up. This past Monday I called again and Patrick himself answered the phone. I asked him why his wife would tell me a flat out lie about the refund. He would not answer my question all he said he would send the refund when he got the funds to do so. Looks like I'm SOL for any kind of refund. I will file a formal complaint with the Az Attorney General.
I bought my first set in 2006 - no problems. Some people were having short delays.
2011 - people were often reporting long delays.
Yup - Dec 2003
Again, Marzach, very sorry you are going thru so much U-NO what.

Just called Patrick's today and the phone is disconnected. I also interested in having this matter looked into as a fraud as it has been over a year of lies about the oakie bushing ect ect.

Got throught spoke to patrick don't know why I couldn't get through yesterday. Was told last week by his son that he was going to bring them to the post office and provide a tracking number. Was told today.waiting for the oakie bushing.asked if he could send what he had and was told he does not have any parts yet from his suppliers. It has been 14 months from order date.was told another 3 to 4 weeks.
I just bought a 3:55 rear end set from Mother Trucker he has inventory no waiting 520-235 2659. I visited his shop 3 times while in Tucson picked up about 13 items which will be installed in the next few months.. Tell him Bill from Taos NM sent you--Thanks
** No more Patricks business from me ** I have described by bad experience with Patricks a couple times on Stovebolt. ** Well after 13 months my last Visa Statement had a $699.00 credit for the $699 that Patricks ran my card for without my authorization in June of 2016. ** From the many posts I have read on Stovebolt as well as other places I'm sure there are quite a number of ones that have had the same bad experience with Patricks that have not recovered their funds paid to Patricks and received nothing. For those all I can say is "Keep Your Fingers Crossed" maybe it will work out.

You are one of the lucky ones Bill...
You just don't show up & walk into MT's collection of old truck parts unless he has pre- approved you before hand.
I hear that he picks & chooses who he does business with & most of his business has moved away from retail sales.
He is now mostly involved with the actual manufacturing & wholesale of parts for AD trucks.
