I pulled my straight six and transmission out of my truck today and I am unable to remove the transmission from the engine. I am wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and if they have any tricks to getting it off.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Two of the bolts are reached from the inside of the bellhousing, two from the outside, probably the two you have found.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

I found the same thing a month ago on my 56; thought that maybe the bolts had broken. Then I remembered reading on this website that Chevy liked to hide the occasional bolt/nut, so I removed the pan covering the flywheel, and there they were!

A lot of good nuggets of information in the postings here, read them when you get the chance, even if it is not something you are working on. You never know what you will learn.
