Hello Everyone!!!!
This is it, the time has come to tell you that we now own a 1939 Chevrolet Cab Over Engine!!!! It came Sunday afternoon from Pennsylvania to Minnesota and are so excited! It had a fire truck tender tank on it but it was of no use for us so it was taken off thankfully! I have not tinkered with it too much yet but I did take a few pictures of it and will be plenty more coming! The grill is hardly touched, just one little ding on the very bottom that is repairable. Everything Chevrolet related to the truck is there! These are such awesome trucks! The Photobucket link is below and will add more as time goes on.

It looks like you found a good one. Did it come with a title? How about a inside photo, it has 3 round gages, right??

Biggest plan was getting one!! Haha, now that we have one I plan on restoring it all original to the 1939 era. The metal on it needs work but will not modify it. For a bed I am really liking the idea of a long, pickup style bed of the 1939 style with metal fenders, bed sides and wood bottom. Looking into 261 engine possibilities as I would like to keep it the straight six. I really am considering a change of just the axle/drivetrain to a dually truck configuration so it still had the six tires/wheels but with better wheels to change tires on. Still researching though!

No title just a bill of sale being it was at a scrap yard. Oh you better believe it has the three gauges, just like the 1938's I have!

The gauges was my concern to be sure it is a 39. In 1940 Chevy changed the dash & gauges. I see that it has turn signal lights on the head lights, Chevy added turn signal lights in 1940, but they were a separate light mounted on-top the head lights. I changed my head lights to the style your truck has, I like them best. Mine came off of a late 30's/early 40's Auto-car.
If your doors are real bad, I was told that PU truck doors will work with the lower front corners cut to fit? Double check the lower hinge is in the same spot?

I have a 261 motor in my 1939 sedan, There is some good detailed info on building a 261 with modifications to make it a better top-end motor.
Also, good luck finding rear truck fenders, 1939 to 46 truck rear fenders are hard to find unless you go to ebay. They seem to be more expensive than any other years, starting at around $400 + in any condition, & even more for 1939, one year only rear fender.
The search is half the fun. It took me 5 years to find a local 1939 COE title, I just got mine a few months ago. There are other ways to title it, but with all the modifications I made, I don't want my truck inspected by DMV. I also wanted it titled as a real 1939. It also took over 3 years to find rear fenders. I now have (1) 1939 & a pair of 40/46 rear fenders. I'm still holding out for the other 1939 rear fender, "L side needed". I'm also still looking for a 1940 or 41 Chevy Deluxe car steering wheel, with the built in spinner handle. " Hint Hint " LOL
