I was finally able to talk my grandpa into selling me his 1946 2 ton cab and chassis. It has been sitting in his barn a little over 30 years I'm not sure how many exactly because I was a little kid and he is doesn't remember cause he is getting forgetful in his old age.
Fo as long as I can remember my brothers and I have been asking him to if we could help him fix it up but he had no interest in doing that. Anyway he is to the point in his life he needed to start getting rid of stuff and I was there to help with that!
From what I can tell the truck is 100% original it was running when he parked it I think the only reason he did park it was that it needed brake work.Grandpa did have the frame and rear wheels blasted and painted with primer.
Plans are to leave it as original as possible and drive it as much as possible.
The truck is in great shape with a light surface rust.
So far I had the gas tank fixed new plugs, wires, points,fuel pump,sending unit,battery, and carb rebuild set the timing and it fired right up!
Going to replace all dry rotted hoses and vacuum lines and wiring harness after that going to tackle the brake job and hope to drive it.
Can't wait to take it for a spin from what I have read on here I am pretty lucky because it has an extra transmission in the drive line.

The guys over in the Big Bolt Forum are great guys and will help you along the way if anything is needed. A lot of stuff is the same on some models and some is not. They will help you sort things when needed. Your are in a great location and there are other bolters that are in your state and maybe even close by or next door.

I was just in your neck of the woods, visiting friends in Cedar Grove. I agree with Mike, great to get an old family truck. Just be sure to work on those brakes before you make your maiden voyage, but I'm sure you already know that. Good luck with it.
