Can you be a little more specific ?? Kind of work, kind of vehicle, cash/insurance, time frame, show/street/rod/beater?. Quality is very subjective., but I know that we all want the best quality for the lowest price, but those kind of guys are gone. I have tried 6-7 different shops in Denver on 5 projects in the last 8 years. I visit different shops all the time and know where the guys that I can't afford are at. What part of town are you?? I got my 1956 Chevy pickup last February so I'm doing mostly research right now. I've got the front end figured out and am working the rear end issues. So the long and short of it I'm working on the project plan, so I'm wondering about the how to manage the bodywork upon disassembling the truckj to do the frame chassis and engine work.

The truck will be a daily driver w/ some comforts, such as IFS, highway capable rear end and some interior mods as well. The body is in reasonable shape, the PO did some of the body work and painted it himself. I have been having breakfast on Saturday's with a bunch of local hot rodders and I'm hoping that I can obtain some advice / tips from them as well.

I live in Thornton, so by the looks of your sign on information you must be in and around Commerce City...

Let me know your thoughts.

Are you meeting at Jay's on Washington? If so you may know Mike ( 56'Highboy,Digital Camera) If so, I can let you look at a book of pictures of a project that sounds like yours. It is a frame up done in stages to allow me to work on truck while the cab and panels were at the paint shop. I just picked up my truck from Mac's custom painting after he had it for 6 weeks and did nothing, so don't go there!! I found a better place to take it to for finishing, but it won't be done for a few weeks.. I live by Great Scotts, but Stinkytown is the Metro area, not just CC. PS, what is your name?? Jon

We do meet at Jay's. I may have met Mike, however I've only been to a couple of breakfasts and have yet to meet or rememnber everyone. I'd heard about Mac's from a mechanic that the PO used that has a shop next to Mac. I'd dig looking over the project you're referring too and possible meet for coffee / beer and general BS about hot rods and local places to get some things done on my truck.

Let me know

Paul

Skraps,

You and Jeeminy50 have an open invitation to our Sunday morning get-to-gether in Brighton.

We meet at the Sinclair station, at the intersection of hwy's 85 and 7 every Sunday morning. They open at 7:00 a.m. and usually there's someone there till around 9:30 ish.

A wide variety of cars/trucks show up, and alot of us go and get breakfast when we leave.

Don't want to travel that far? Fill me in on Jay's. I'd like to meet you guys one of these days.

Hey Paul, I think I will get down to Jay's this Sat, I don't know if I will have the 56 since I decided to take it to a Hi $$ rod builder to finish it. I will share that info soon. I also drive a red 06 Tundra Double cab if you see me pull up.
Eric, I did officially meet your udderly crazy pal with his milker at a car show on Sunday. We had a yuck it up for hours. It was his B-day and we sat round the titmobile watchin all the great gettaway sticks going by. May have the sub on road soon, put tank in today, will start up in AM.Will do Brighton soon. Jon

Jon,

If you spent some time with Gary and the milk truck, I'm sure you've probably got some stories. Like it or not, it is truly a unique vehicle, and he's a character.

Keep your ears open.

He generally has a big party/car show out at his place each fall. It's a heck of a good time.

Jon / Eric,

I won't be at Jay's this Saturday, as I'll be up in the mountains. Let's plan on the following Saturday, October 7th. Typically guys are there around 7:30AM.

Jay's is at about 72nd St. and Washington.

I'd be willing to try to get together during the week as well, just to meet and greet.

Thoughts?

Eric, Mike and I will be at Jays this Sat, if you like to stop in. Bring a rod and Mike will shoot it with a real nice digital and send you the pics. Yup, Gary is a blast and it takes a lot of oxygen to keep up the the giggles. I happen to love anything strange and unique. I have owned even Divco along with Nash,Stud,Renault,Corv,LaSalle,Hudson, even a Superbird in the past. So I do like the milk truck.
Eric,Paul, My friends and I are planning a small picnic/Hotrad/Photoshoot next Saturday, so I most likely will be busy that day. I will inform you guys of time/place, but we are trying for 88th ave just west of I-25. There is a park next to the RTD park-Ride. Just a last ditch effort to get the homeboys together for a line up. Jon.

Hey skraps, Jeeminy50, and Jed,

I'm new to the board and just stumbled on your string. I have a very stock (so far) 55 3100 PU.
I would love to tag along at one of your get-togethers (I live in Parker). I want to see what others are and/or have done to their vehicles s to get ideas and avoid some of the big mistakes. I was suprised I couldn't find a listing for a chevy club; maybe I was looking in all the wrong places. I was thrilled to see some posts from the Denver Metro area.

I just bought a '58 Big Back Window cab that I am going to work on over the winter in hopes of transplanting it on to my '55 next summer.

My alternate plan is to get another frame (I have one on the hook right now) and build one from parts to go along with my ~ stock one.

cbrackle -

We should work on getting together before the snow flys. My 56 Big Back window is my first Bolt and I'm looking to get tips / advice myself.

cbrackle,

Welcome to the BOLT! Always willing and anxious to meet someone new.

As Paul said, we should figure out some type of plan and try and get together before the snow flys.

Any ideas?

Eric,Paul, and new guy, Larry has a very nice Bowtie and is normally at Jay's. I am using my 56 until it goes into paint at end of month. The sub is not yet on the road. I and a friend will be at Jay's about 8:00 for breakfast. I have the photo book with me and info on body shop( Paul). Jon
PS: about a dozen friends and myself are having a potluck BBQ/Picnic ( with hot rods) Sunday 12:00 at a small park 88th ave just west of I-25 (east of Huron) If that spot is reserved by a larger group , plan B is just north on Huron at about 93-94th across from the day-old bread/bakery store..Come on by. We may even cruise. Jon

Cbrackle, Jeeminy50,

Had a good (free) pancake breakfast with Paul up in Brighton this morning, courtesy of the local fire-house.

He seems like a great guy, and has a nice truck. Sure wish you guys could have been there.

Jeeminy, sorry I missed you and your buddies down at the park. Weather wasn't very nice, so I didn't venture too far from home, once I got back there.

Didn't make Sat. morning, as I went up to Sidney, NE. Great show, about 300 cars.

Still hoping to get together one of these days and meet you.

If you're interested, we're planning a Run for Brunch 2-weeks from today, Sunday... We're gonna leave Brighton around 10 a.m. and cruise up to Keenesburg for an all you can eat/drink champagne brunch.

Last go-around, we had about 18 cars and 30 people. Great Food!

All,

I had a great time meeting Jon (Jeeminy50)and Eric (Jed) this weekend.

Jon - Your 56 looks great and the album was certainly cool to go through and see what shape your truck was in and where it is now. Stuff like that gets the old imagination running on what ideas I can lay out for my 56.

Eric - I had a blast talking with everyone Sunday. Your 41 Ford is a sweet ride for an old bitty. 72K original miles, you just don't see that much anymore. She's a real keeper.

Guys, we appreciate that you are getting together but this topic needs to either be moved to the lounge or email, since it has become very regional and personal and doesn't really fit in this forum. Thanks for your interest in the bolt.
