I want to paint my steel bed inside and out, and all sides. I am struggling with what is the best position to put the bed in for the paint work. It's hard to lean over the edge to paint, and then the inside - side panels again, difficult to paint. Any suggestions??

I just got a roller and some paint, climbed into the bed and started to roll from the front to the back. I thought about getting a crane and dipping the bed in a huge bucket of paint but, in the end, I went with the roller. I think that I made the right decision. wink

I would paint the inside of the box first. I would then tape it off and do the exterrior.I would paint it as if it were on the truck.

What year bed? Does the front panel unbolt?

This is a great question. Not an easy one to answer. Painting can be hard.

If you are using a paint with any sort of perl or metallic flakes in it you want to paint it as if it is on the truck so you don't get mismatch between the bed and the body (at least the outside). This does not make it easy to get the inside. If you want to avoid overspray and make it easier pick a place to mask either most of the inside or outside where the line won't show.
