I have a 57 Chevy with a deluxe cab which rear glass retaining strip is correct the black one or the chrome??
Hate to do it twice, looks like it not going to be easy the slit it goes in is very tight. Thanks for your help.

Deluxe may have been chrome. There is a special tool to help install the retaining strip. Someone will be along soon with the answer on black vs chrome.🛠

Sorry, I forgot.

I'll go out now and see if I can find the TDB.

I'll report back tomorrow.

OK, I found the 1957 TDB.

I'll keep adding info here.

Interesting, the pickup floor/bed wood is "seasoned hardwood".

RPO 431 Custom Cab
includes bright metal windshield and side window reveals, and ventipane frame, two-tone nylon and vinyl seat fabrics, cigarette lighter, chrome-plated control knobs, dual sunshades, driver's arm rest, foam rubber seat and and backrest cushion. Series 3000 models also include chrome-plated grill, hub caps, headlamp bezel, and front bumper.

I think there might also have been a DeLuxe Cab but I cannot find it. Does anyone know the RPO# for it (if it was available)?

Tim, thanks for looking this up for me. I just learned about the hardwood 3 weeks ago at an AACA meet. Another truck owner showed me a 1956 salesman's manual and that was in there. Also the metal bed strips were black like the boards.

57 A S,

The 1957 TDB does not state black bed and steel skid strips, but the B&W illustration shows them both being much darker (black) than the paint and both the boards and strips matching in color. Same for Cameo Carrier bed.

Were the inner bed-walls painted body color in standard bed trucks? The inner-bed and end/tail-gate walls all look to be dark-black in the Cameo Carrier bed illustrations?

The standard bed (step side) were body color just the floors were painted black. Not sure on the Cameo.

That would be like 1954. The B&W illustration is not a good rendition.

Thanks,

Tim, just wanted to thank you for your time. Even though we didn't get the answer to my original question.
