I read somewhere the pin type contacts are not very reliable. Any thoughts would be great and pics would be even better. Ken

A number of aftermarket companies sell different styles of hoses or conduits to get power and control voltages to the doors. They will require drilling a hole in both the a pillar and door face. The question one needs to address early on is how to get in the car in case of battery failure. Depending on what type of ride you drive, it can be a problem.

The ground cable can connect anywhere on the frame. That would also come in handy for jump starting without the risk of getting a spark near the battery and an unintended fireworks display!
Inside those flexible conduits between the pillar and the door, it's also a good idea to use high-flex wire like the type used for voltmeter test leads, etc. to prevent metal fatigue and open circuits under the insulation from metal fatigue caused by opening and closing the door repeatedly. It's easy to find in all gauges and lengths on Ebay. Jerry

I will still have the key entry on the pass side so getting locked out will not be an issue. Good quality wire is a must I agree. After putting a chunk of plumbers putty in the door jam to get the clearance measure 3/8" and the fact that at least on my doors the hinge area is more of a sideways sliding action. I'm not sure using the conduit kit I ordered would ever work. The two surfaces would have to hinge like a standard door. I think I have got it whipped although it's not the most high tech install I ever saw. I might even be driving this thing for the first time ever by the end of the month.
