CE639P815980 C = Conventional 4x2 (Series 10-60) E = V8 Gas 6 = 19,000 - 45,000 GVW Range 3 = Chassis-Cab 9 = Year (1969) P = Pontiac Plant 815980 = Unit number starting with 100000 Mike B | | | | Joined: May 2017 Posts: 11 New Guy | New Guy Joined: May 2017 Posts: 11 | Thanks Mike. Sure looks like they made a lot of big bolts. If they started numbering at 100,000 and ours is 815,980 that's over 715,000. That seems like a lot of big bolts in one year and who knows what number they ended the year with. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | I bet the unit number started at 1,000 at each plant and counted up for all series (that is how it worked in 1965-66 with a similar format Vehicle Serial Number Identification). http://www.1954advance-design.com/chev-specs/1962-t-ser-ID/ | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | My info shows they started with 100,001 from 67 thru 72 (that's as far as my books go) as the first unit number from each plant. So you have the 715,980th unit out of the Pontiac Plant, they only had one #1 serial number in the plant regardless of whether it was a car or truck. Thanks for the correction/confirmation, Mike
