The number i found on my wheel cylinder is 5457177. What i need to know is part numbers for wheel cylinders or wheel cylinder kits. We will need more information from you to properly answer your question, is your braking system a dual type or single type, what is the width of your rear brake shoes? According to my parts book there are at least four different possibilities for rear wheel cylinders all of which have a 1 1/2" bore. Once you provide the needed information we will do our best to help you, complaining about how fast you get information on a free website does not help anyone! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | My local NAPA store found wheel cylinders for a 54 GMC 530 series in a warehouse way out on the west coast when I needed them- - - -at $94.00 apiece. Instead of doing that, I honed the ones I had several thousandths oversize, and ended up machining new pistons for them. The original-size rubber cups (also provided by NAPA) were flexible enough to provide a leak-free seal. Ask Ed if they're still working- - - -I believe they probably are.
Are you approaching NAPA with the same attitude you're using here? You can catch a lot more flies with sugar than vinegar.

I was a bit irritated when i wrote that because i went back again with the wheel cylinder itself and the guy working there acted as if it were crazy i came looking for something "that old" anyway i went online and found rebuild kits and hardware kits for everything.
