The question is what oil filter mount are most using? I need to flow 8.5gpm. Any idea what the fram ph8 style filter flows? What are you guys using in the chevy/gmc conversions?

On a rural fire dept we had a 54 reo with the aluminum 1,000 gal tank. Truck wouldn't go over about 55 mph, but it would pull like there was no tomorrow. It showed no oil pressure on the gauge for years, was told that either the rear main or rear cam bearing was loose. To my amazement, they replaced it with a M135, GMC 302 and hydramatic tranny. That was a worthless pile of steel.Only thing we gained was an independent pump with a Wisconson engine.

Owning the 331 has peaked my interest and I have bought some old REO brochures and manuals off of ebay. If you're interested, I'll scan some and email ya. It is amazing how obscure the REO has become. What ever became of your fire dept truck? Rebuild parts are still available.
