I'm in my late 50's and finally satisfied my boyhood dream of getting a classic truck. I purchased a "restored" 1962 C10 recently and found out about you nice folks. Looking forward to posting lots of questions.

I drove my 1953 panel all the way to an event in Kansas City, over 1000 miles from home. I've also driven twice to the homecoming, a mere 10 hours each way. That's what we do. We exchange phone numbers and if someone is in trouble, we do our best to help each other out. I drove my panel to the Homecoming in 2014 just one month before open heart surgery......and do like 1953 Panel, "Leo", suggest. Just do it. Just three months after open heart surgery my wife and I drove the panel to K.C. Reunion. I knew LOTS of folks had my back on both trips!!!

There's a pretty good sized contingent in the Fredericksburg area (myself included) who convoy together to Homecoming (safety and help in numbers). As my good friend SWEET says "Trust your truck." Took me a long time to follow that advice, but since I did, I haven't looked back.
Like you, I started late in life, then found this site. What a great bunch of guys all dedicated to helping folks like you and me out.

I'm replacing a bushing in the tranny due to a bad vibration 40 - 50 MPH, next I need to clean out (burn out?) the Road Draft Tube to get rid of the fumes in the cab. The gas gauge still isn't working but that wouldn't keep me from driving it. Anyway, if I can get all this done in 3 weeks I'll drive it out. Yes, I owe you all pictures.
The first day I bought gas some teen age girls ran up to me "Mr. we just LOVE your truck!" I had no idea it was gonna be a "Chick Magnet" We promptly named it "Romeo".

I am also older (68) and hope to finish my truck soon.
Here in Missouri we have Mexico, Cuba, Versailles, California, and Nevada. None of the pronounced properly, of course.

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur ( https://timwhiteblues.imgur.com/ ). I live way back in the woods in the Ozarks on 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile private road. Tim
