None of the heater hoses were hooked up when I bought this truck. So, before everyone tells me the obvious, whats the difference and which one is the correct one. My thoughts say maybe one if for the deluxe heater and one for the basic heater?

The hot water comes from a fitting in the cylinder head to supply the heater. The only reason for a second port in the water pump was to accomodate a special bypass-type thermostat on the heavy duty engines, one that's no longer in production. Jerry

Seems like most of the auto parts places are just carrying the two outlet. You would think the opposite would be true given that they bypass thermostats aren't made any more. Hmmm...
Wrencher88, just put a 1/2"NPT plug into one or both of the outlets and you'll be good to go. If you have a heater, use either one and plug the other.
I like to use brass plugs with anti-seize on the threads because iron pipe is prone to galling in the thermostat housings.

I was able to find the single port water pumps but they are all rebuilts it seems. Was just curious what the deal was with the double port. Thanks for the information guys!

Remember that it's been over 50 years since any of these engine were produced. Try finding rebuildable spares for anything related to Model A's or Model T's these days- - - - -they used to be hard to give away! Ditto for flathead V8 stuff! Jerry

Some of the water pumps come with this block off with a hex head opening for a allen wrench. Once installed to block which ever hose you want, you can fill the hex head with a filler, the paint the pump. It'll look much more like the original pump. | | |
