The big name suppliers sell heater paint for 47-53 by the quart- at a high price. No thanks. What is a good match? Does anyone have a color code? I did a search on here and found something about Hammerite Bronze..... what do you guys think?

There's a link somewhere here, someone has a nice article on restoring a AD heater, and he used the bronze paint, but I can't remember the website!! someone help!

hey guys.... I've checked eastwood for that paint... can't find it. Does anyone have a part number for it? It's the hammerite rust cap- bronze

Eastwood used to carry it, I am surpised they do not any longer. I found mine at True Value hardware. They carried the brand, but not that color, but they special ordered it for me.

Deve did a real good job documenting heater restoration. He got the idea of using hammerite bonze from me, and I got the idea from a Jeep restoration website. Seems Jeeps used Harrison heaters back then also. The only part of Deve's restoration I do not agree with is he painted the heater while apart and then reassembled it, leaving the screws unpainted. Originally, the screws were painted.

Doesn't Krylon, or Rustoleum have the hammered paints, have seen some at Wallymart, and most hardware store, and HomeDepot.. I have been eyeing them, just need the heater to paint, have a new 6v motor.

But they do not have the bronze color. If you want originality, go with the hammerite bronze.

I used Rust-oleum Hammered finish PN# 7218 Dark Bronze on two fresh air heaters..and they turned out, as Deves would say "perfect".
