Hi Everyone!
I recently purchased a 52 Chevy 3100 pick up and started the tear down and planning stage. I have floor repairs to do but was thinking about adding new dual master cylinder with brake booster to the engine comparment instead of under the floor attached to the frame. I am going with an LS engine out of a 2005 chevy truck 5.3L I want to keep the floor all one panel no access holes when I replace it. Just wondering if anyone moved the brake booster to the firewall and if so what bracket did you use for the brake pedal. I see the brake kits on summit racing but dont see the bracket you would need to mount the brake pedal under the dash.
If anyone has done this please let me know. As well what about the parking brake?
Thanks
Paul from Canada

I used a hydroboost system on mine, necessary to beef up firewall to accept brake pedal pressure. .375 Al plate about 1.5 sq. Ft. Pedal are stock early Jeep(cast) upside down. Necessary to mount pivot bracket, etc. Px for email address. Could possibly use GM pedals, etc.

So from what I understand on what you wrote is you bolted an aluminum plate on the fire wall 3/8 thick and 18 inches x 18 inches length and width behind the booster?
Now the pivot bracket did you use the one from the early jeep and just make it fit under the dash with some welding and cutting?
You can e-mail the photo's to me [email protected]
Really appreciate it.
Thanks

Paul,

My '36 PU is now restored to original but when I first had it in the late 1960s I ran it for about 5 years and 50K miles as a sbc powered daily driver rat rod. I mounted a MC on the fire wall and braced it to the column drop part of the dash. That made for a totally rigid setup.

Since no project is ever done, I just finished updating the 1936 brake system with a tandem MC from a Jeep adapted to the original MC mount/pedal mount casting. That '36 and I are getting old together.

FYI- Performance Online (POL) makes an under floor kit with a remote reservoir available. Works with the stock clutch pedal or without. 7" double diaphragm booster. Very nice bracket included. Everything fit without having to massage anything.
