No title and doesn't run. Thinking of putting the dump bed and hoist on a 1 ton truck. This truck has an auto trans. Does anyone know if a electric pump and tank from a dump trailer will work to operate the hoist?
Looking at a pump similar to this one..... http://premium-supply.com/collections/kti-hydraulic-pumps/products/double-acting-hydraulic-8-quart-kti-pump

The flow rate of the pump you use will determine the speed the hoist moves, while the pressure output of the pump will determine your lifting capacity. If you source an electric pump with specs matching the original PTO pump, things will work fine. If not, you may have to derate the system or change the hoist geometry. | | | | Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 10 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 10 | I will do that, thank you....

It didn't have limited power input like you will with an electric motor. It still may have a GPM and pressure rating. You can get something with a lower GPM rating of course, you'll just have to wait longer for the hoist to operate. I'm not usually in a big hurry when dumping something myself, so I wouldn't care personally. | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 30 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 30 | I've been having similar thoughts. An electric pump would clean up the floor boards of at least one lever. I have been considering an automatic w/350 on my 48 2 ton. This would permit the use of a dual line power braking master cylinder. Where can I source these pumps? I will save the questions about 2 speed rear end and automatic trans for another thread. What pump is recommended? | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 30 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 30 | To clarify.......the original PTO driven hydraulic pump is replaced with a 12 volt electric pump? Not an electric motor hooked up to the shaft which drove the original pump? | | | | Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 10 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 10 | You are correct Swede, This is what I was looking at, just as an idea. The pump and reservoir are self contained.
