Hi all, hope I am right here. The heater valve seal at my thermostatic heater valve leaked badly. Today the replacement seal was in my inbox. I have thoroughly cleaned all parts and will tomorrow straighten the base plate. Before I throw everything together I'd like to grease all moving parts. But I am not sure if I should put some grease to the seal itself to protect it from potentially aggressive components in the coolant. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

The only thing I used on my Ranco heater valve was plumbers grease during reassembly. Greased the seal and tube lightly to help insert it back into the tube. Plumbers grease will not deteriorate the rubber seal.
