I just purchased this fine specimen. Hopefully pull the motor,clean up read the numbers and pray it's original. Was sad it's not a v8. Good thing it's was a bee keepers truck so it has a large swinging winch to haul up the boxes

Thanks Ed. It's been raining non stop here in Washington. So haven't got a chance to really mess with it. I did connect a battery and attempted to start. But no luck. It does turn over.

Quick update. Sorry or no pics or vid will do one when i pull the engine and trans. After a couple of weeks trying to make the truck run ive decided to pull the heart out and do it right. Found out its a 253. And lots of electrical issues due to previous owner changing to 12v. Stay tuned for the videos.

If this is a 59, it came 12V electrical, the PO didn't convert it. Also, the 235 might possibly be the original engine as well.

Your right Cablesmill. I just assumed all were 6v. Im hopeing it is the original engine. All the #s idicate a59. I know GM has a option for $$ to give you info on your car. These are the #s i have so far. Con 3 1248 3764476 F925J. I have to rebuild the carb ot leaks. I think im just going to do a tune up. All my research im doing is online. This is my first stovebolt. Im going to do a video, when it stops raining here

Yea this is the link. But they have the option if you pay $50 they can verify for you if that is the original engine from factory, basically all records they have from factory of how it was ordered or built. If you want all info its $150. You have to send in all #s

Do you have an address for that service (for a pre-63 Chevrolet truck)?

http://www.gmmediaarchive.com but is only from 77 and newer. I guess there working on the older records due to no guidlines for retaining that info after 10years. I wouldnt mind paying $500 for that info. Its priceless

1248 = block casting date?
12 = December
24 = 24th
8 = 1958

F925J = Engine Serial Number?
F = Flint, MI engine plant
9 = September
25 = 25th day of the month
J = 3100-3800 truck engine

Thats the same info i gathered it must be an early 59 engine. Thanks Tim
